bibliomania
noun
passionate enthusiasm for collecting and possessing books.
When I first bought my house (aka Arnold, after his late owners), I immediately determined to turn one of the "bedrooms" (really probably called a parlor or something when it was built in 1925) into my library. After all, apparently one of the telltale signs of being a true hoarder is that things are not organized and kept in their proper location. Not only do my books live in the library where they belong, but I also have a very detailed digital catalog of my book collection. Also, I decided to skip over Marie Kondo's chapter about books. No one needs that kind of negativity.
I read somewhere that buying books and reading them are two entirely different hobbies. Though I do intend to read all the books I buy, my desire to purchase a particular book is not necessarily motivated solely by the desire to read it. Nor is my love of a particular book (the actual physical object) always tied to the words within that book. Sometimes, yes, but not always. This is my attempt to memorialize some of those reasons.
